Our History
A history of French industry, rich in developments and innovations
Founded by the Gascogne Group, the company began under the name SODAP, specializing in the manufacture of stretch film for pallets. It was later sold to the Elf Atochem, which continued this industrial activity.
A few years later, Elf founded the company Soplaril, dedicated to the manufacture of packaging, and moved to the Dax site at that time. The business quickly evolved toward complex technical films, developed to meet 100% of Soplaril’s needs. The stretch film business is gradually phased out in favor of specialization in lamination film, which has greatly contributed to the site’s growing reputation.
Soplaril also stands out for two major innovations:
- CLARTENE : a twist film for packaging candies and chocolates, prized for its gloss and durability.
- PELASEAL : a resealable film protected by an international patentthat is revolutionizing the world of flexible packaging.
These two flagship products are making a lasting impact Soplaril as a recognized player in the packaging industry.
Soplaril is part of the Pechineygroup, which was later acquired by ALCAN Packaging.
The Group Amcor acquires ALCAN Packaging, and the Dax site joins a network of five extrusion sites within Amcor.
Buoyed by the success and quality of its line of embossed films, the facility has signed a long-term contract with its main client. This strategic commitment enables the acquisition of a new embossing machine named OYAT, named after a plant emblematic of the southwestern coast.
Amcor has decided to sell its Dax facility. It is being acquired by EIM, a French industrial investment firm. The company then adopts a new identity and becomes A.T.E.D.I.A. Films.
With the support of its clients and its new shareholder, A.T.E.D.I.A. Films is embarking on a new phase of its development with the installation of a 7-layer coextrusion line. A new chapter is beginning for this locally rooted industrial company, focused on innovation and performance.
