Our history

A French industrial history rich in change and innovation

Created by the Gascogne group, the company started out as SODAPspecializing in the manufacture of stretch film for pallets. It was then sold to the Elf Atochemgroup, which continued this industrial activity.

A few years later, Elf founded Soplarila packaging manufacturer, and integrated the Dax site. The business rapidly evolved towards complex technical filmsdeveloped to meet 100% of Soplaril's needs. The stretch film business was gradually abandoned in favor of specialization in laminating filmwhich has made a major contribution to the site's growing reputation.

Soplaril also stands out for two major innovations:

  • CLARTENE a twist film for candy and chocolate packaging, appreciated for its shine and hold.
  • PELASEAL a resealable film protected by an international patentrevolutionizing the world of flexible packaging.

These two flagship products provide long-lasting Soplaril as a recognized player in the packaging sector.

Soplaril is part of the Pechiney groupwhich was later absorbed by ALCAN Packaging.

The Group Amcor group acquires ALCAN Packaging, and the Dax site joins a network of five network of five extrusion within Amcor.

Buoyed by the success and quality of its range of embossed filmsthe site signs a long-term contract with its main customer. This strategic commitment enables the acquisition of a new embossing machine, the OYATa reference to a plant emblematic of the South-West coastline.

The Amcor group decides to sell the Dax site. It is taken over by EIMa French industrial investment company. The company takes on a new identity and becomes A.T.E.D.I.A. Films.

With the support of its customers and its new shareholder, A.T.E.D.I.A. Films is embarking on a new stage in its development, with the installation of a 7-layer coextrusion line. A new page is turning for this locally-rooted industrial company, focused on innovation and performance.
